If you like nature landscapes or are interested in historical and cultural spots while travelling, Taipei has 3 tourist attractions that are certified as Muslim-friendly - Yangmingshan National Park, Guandu National Park and Bopiliao Historic District. This means that the attractions have prayer rooms, prayer mats, qibla direction and the toilets are equipped with cleansing facilities.

Yangmingshan, one of Taiwan’s nine national parks, is a popular nature getaway with various hiking and walking paths, mountains, lush greenery and hot springs. Guandu Nature Park is a low-lying nature reserve with freshwater ponds, rice paddies, wooden trails, bird-watching cabins and more. The Bopiliao Historic District is a neighbourhood that’s rich in local culture and has preserved buildings that are Instagram-worthy!

Apart from attractions, 11 hotels have also been certified as Muslim-friendly, providing prayer mats, qibla direction, cleansing facilities in the toilets and some of them even provide halal breakfast! The best part is that there are different categories of hotels to suit your needs and budget. For younger travellers, you can find a list of youth hostels and backpacker dorms located near Taipei Main Station and the main shopping district of Ximending. If you’re travelling with family or in a group, you can even find hotels with hot springs near the Beitou Geothermal Valley located under Yangming Mountain. What’s more, many of these hotels are accessible via MRT, so they are really convenient to get to.

Besides information on Muslim-friendly amenities, the Taipei Muslim-friendly Guide also includes transportation guides, district maps and other handy information too. Download the guide here.
