If you're heading to Haig Road for some of the famous Haig Road putu piring or visiting Haig Road's market or food centre, perhaps drop by 12 Haig Road to check out the new Kedai Kopi that has a cool new concept! 9 of your favourite stalls in one area, there's a little something for everybody. Our Tribes by HHWT member, Farhana Ayu, visits with her family and reviews it! Spoiler: she loves it ?

“Mommy, can you bring us to Kedai Kopi at Haig Road again?” This was what my boys keep asking me every day. From the first time I brought them there for lunch, till today!

For me, going to Geylang Serai and Haig Road started off since I was young, having to follow my parents for their monthly marketing rounds and also buying our Hari Raya clothes and decorations during the fasting month. I always painfully dreaded going there! I still remember the only food that was suitable for our ‘young taste buds’ was the Hainanese Steamed Chicken Rice. It was the only thing I looked forward to whenever I was dragged to Geylang Serai.

Fast forward 20 years later, the tables have turned! I now drag my kids to Haig Road and Geylang Serai, and thankfully for Kedai Kopi at 12 Haig Road, there’s something which the kids can look forward to! ?

Kedai Kopi at 12 Haig Road is a new coffeeshop concept consisting of 9 food stalls which will put your gluttony to the test!

It’s undeniable that for our kids' generation now, their go-to foods are Pasta, Pizza, Fried Chicken, Fish & Chips, Burgers, Fries, Lamb Chops etc. Luckily, we have Tenderbest at Kedai Kopi Haig Road to the rescue! Save those fried chicken for us too!!

A crowd favourite at Kedai Kopi is the Volcano Ayam by Mee Bagus which also sells Fishball Noodles, Meatball Noodles, Seafood Laksa and Mee Wanton. We tried the Volcano Ayam and the broth is so well-flavoured with bits of dried shrimps and minced chicken it is no wonder that it’s a popular choice!

P.S. Looking for more good food? Check out Bedok Corner's yummy halal food!

We slurped it to the last drop. Do not get intimidated though with the word ‘Volcano’ especially if you worry about the spice level, it’s not that kind of crazy spicy which will have you erupting into sweat. ?

I’m not really into Mala Sichuan spice-numbing kind of taste and have always avoided Mala food cos I thought the food from MaLa MaMa would be a disappointing choice… But, when I was offered to try MaLa MaMa and to just try a bit of it, I ended up finishing the entire bowl of Mala! Goodness, oh my! It was the most flavourful bowl that day for me.

With some of the fresh ingredients selected to be fried and blanched, top off with their heavenly Mala sauce, I can keep eating it like a good bowl of snacks! You can choose to eat it on its own, with Rice or even as a wrap which they call 'Mama Wrap', or make it into a combo set with some salted egg fries by the side.

A Kedai Kopi is not complete without our local favourites: Char Kway Teow and Hokkien Mee. At Hawkerman, I really like that their Char Kway Teow is not just accompanied by the usual plain cockles and fishcake, but also cooked with Chinese Chicken Sausage. It makes it much more palatable. Even for their Hokkien Mee, you can choose to have the regular Hokkien Mee or choose their Lala Hokkien Mee, which is something you don’t get often at other coffeeshops.

And it doesn't end there. You will continue to be spoiled with choices at Kedai Kopi with CRAVE Nasi Lemak Padang Style and Rasa Sedap Seafood. They are currently having a promotion of 5 dishes at $70 for 5 to 6 pax.

Our family’s favourite weekend snacks are from Nenda’s Fritters where we will order a BIG & HEAVY Bag of their Keropok Lekor, Pisang Goreng, Prawn Wadeh, Ubi Kayu, Otah-Otah, Curry Puffs, Malay Kuihs and lots more. With Nenda’s Fritters, they automatically provide the chilli sauce for your Keropok Lekor and accede to your sinful request for the Pisang Goreng Kerak / Crumbs ?

Another good reason to go to Kedai Kopi at 12 Haig Road would be to get their super cute Bandung Grenade (aka giant Yakult) and a newly introduced flavour: the very refreshing Ribena Bandung!

Both Yakult drinks are great thirst-quenchers but if you are looking to gulp more, just go for their drink tower. You can choose to have the tower filled up with Bandung, Milo or Ice Lemon Tea.

Kedai Kopi at Haig Road recently completed the renovation of an outdoor roof with ceiling fans so you can dine in more comfortably. For parents with babies, good news! You don’t need to frantically search high & low for a place to change your babies or rush to get home. Kedai Kopi provides a diaper changing table in their Restroom. Now, that’s a big sigh of relief ?

So, the next time you come to Haig Road, take note to check out this new Kedai Kopi and see if you can resist on taking the Real Glutton test! ?
