Sushi Zanmai is a conveyer-belt sushi restaurant in Malaysia. Serving a wide variety of sushi and Japanese meals, some of their best-selling menu items are Salmon Mentai Roll, Sashimi Moriawase, Salmon Zanmai as well as their selection of Nigiri and Gunkan Sushi. Currently, Sushi Zanmai has over 30 outlets in Malaysia, and it continues to be a popular dining spot among families.

Is Sushi Zanmai Halal?

According to Sushi Zanmai's Facebook page, here's the official response to their halal status:

"Please be informed that our restaurants are not halal due to beer serving. A few of our cooked dishes do contain small amount of mirin or cooking sake, but alcohol content is less than 1%.

Other than that, all of our meat based products are from halal certified suppliers and we are pork free.

In addition, our sushi rice does not contain mirin, but it has rice vinegar that is made 100% from Japanese traditional rice fermentation process." - Sushi Zanmai's Facebook page.

As of June 2021, Sushi Zanmai is not certified halal by JAKIM.
