Best things to do with kids in Desaru

1. Adventure Waterpark Desaru Coast

By far the most interesting attraction in Desaru, the Adventure Waterpark Desaru Coast is ideal for families and kids. Be warned, it might be hard to peel them away to go home!

The waterpark features more than 20 wet and dry rides. There are five zones: Penawar Falls, Penawar River, Shipwreck Reef, Tidal Wave Beach and Kids Ahoy. Be sure to try out surfing at their wave pool!

Did you know the waterpark also has the region’s first water coaster as well as a host of ‘dry’ rides? Yep, that’s right! Get your adrenalin rush at the Riptide twister or chill by floating down the 350-metre Penawar lazy river.

There is also a Kids Ahoy area for families with young children to wade and splash with 13 unique slides. If the rides are not your thing, you can opt to enjoy the wave pool views from the beachside cabanas or just lounge along the shoreline of Tidal Wave Beach!

You might not know this, but Desaru is the best agro-tourism site in Malaysia! So, be sure to add the Desaru Fruit Farm to your list!

Start the visit with a guided farm tour, a visit to the agriculture gallery and a stroll to the vegetable and herb garden. Don’t miss out on trying the local raw honey!

For an adventure, you can even hop on an ATV and explore the orchards or take the kids to the petting zoo.

3. Kota Tinggi Firefly Park

The Kota Tinggi Firefly Park is a bit of a drive (about 45 minutes from Desaru), but it’s simply a must-do while you’re here! The cruise will lead you to explore the majestic mangrove trees along the riverbank as you witness the illuminating beauty of the fireflies at night.

There are three scheduled cruises daily — at 7.30 pm, 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm. We recommend booking the 7.30 pm slot as it is the best time to view the lightning bugs.
